Consultant Materials Scientist

Jeremy Allen is a Consultant Materials Scientist based in our Cardiff office.

Jeremy is an experienced materials scientist with a B.Eng from the University of London and a M.Sc from University of Surrey (awarded James Hughes Prize). Jeremy began his career at British Aerospace as a Development Engineer in the Advanced Materials and Welding Development Department. He moved to Production Engineering in the heat and wet treatment facilities and then composite component manufacturing, latterly as Production Manager – Composite Manufacturing.

In 1997 Jeremy joined a multinational surface treatments provider as Technical Services Manager, dealing with all technical aspects of surface engineering for improved component performance and longevity for clients in a wide range of industries including, construction, commercial and military aerospace, petro-chemical, power generation, competitive automotive racing and ground transport. He was also involved in process development and research projects.

Jeremy joined MTD in June 2014 and has performed failure investigations for a wide variety of industries involving materials identification, mechanical testing, fatigue and fracture, corrosion, composite material failures, flexible pipeline dissections and condition assessments, structural collapse and component damage, and cavitation erosion investigations.
