Consultant Scientist
Marlene Wu is based in our Singapore office.
Marlene is a consultant scientist with a broad knowledge of and varied technical expertise in a number of scientific disciplines. She holds a PhD degree in Physics, a Master’s Degree in Life Sciences, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry from Nanyang Technological University. After obtaining her Master’s, she worked as a spectroscopist for over five years, during which time she conducted research in molecular spectroscopy, carried out academic teaching and supported research collaborations. Her research interests were in spectroscopy, polymer chemistry, biodiesel production and analytical and synthetic chemistry. In addition, Marlene has a Diploma in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technology which equipped her with the technical knowledge and applications of processes and operations involved in both petrochemical and pharmaceutical plants. During her final year, she worked in a microbiology laboratory at an international scientific testing company and is familiar with food and water sampling and microbial testing. Marlene has published more than 10 international journal articles.
Since joining MTD in 2023, Marlene has been involved in a range of investigative work, including fire investigations and bulk solid and bulk liquid cargo quality and handling issues.
