Neil is a Consultant Chemist based in our Cardiff office.

Neil Whitehead has a Masters degree in Chemistry from Oxford University. After graduating, Neil joined a major defence technology and research company, working in the fuels and lubricants group involved with consultancy and technical research on defence and aviation fuel systems. He was involved in the assessment of new techniques to predict performance in fuel systems and specialised in the microbiological contamination of fuels.

He then joined an International Petroleum Inspection Company as a UK technical specialist for the oil, gas and chemicals sector, overseeing the development and provision of analytical services offered by their UK laboratories.

Neil joined MTD in 2011 and has been involved in numerous investigations of quality disputes and contamination claims involving a variety of bulk liquid cargoes including crude oil,  petroleum products, bunker fuels, petrochemicals, industrial chemicals, biofuels and vegetable oils.  Neil has authored many technical and expert reports for Clients and for use in both Arbitrations and Court cases, and has given evidence as an expert witness at UK and International Arbitrations. Neil is also a member of a number of Energy Institute committees, including the microbiological, sulphur and inorganic analysis panels, and is registered in the Legal Hub Expert Witnesses Directory.
